An introduction to ancient way of life. Garbha Samskara is a systematic and well practiced way of caring for the expectant mother as well as the baby in her womb. It includes specific steps throughout pregnancy, childbirth as well as postnatal care.
Pregnancy is a precious phase in every woman’s life. Pregnancy and childbirth become the most unforgettable moments in her life. So it is extremely important that she understands how she can make this experience a positive and memorable one.
Plenty of literature can be found online about Garbha Samskara and specific information about the instructions for this way of life, but what really matters is that the mother understands the significance and purpose of each phase in this way of life. Only through such understanding can it really benefit her and her baby.
Garbha Samskara is not just about yogasanas but about the overall mental state & physical health throughout the day, and every day throughout pregnancy and childbirth.
Below mentioned are a few key factors from the ancient knowledge of Garbha Samskara which can be introduced into modern-day busy life that can improve overall health and wellbeing of pregnant women and their babies.
● Pregnancy diet: This includes moderation in meal portions with variety in each meal. Staying well hydrated throughout the day. Avoiding high-sugar, high-salt and oily foods.
● Walking routine: A routine of 20-30mins six days a week. Gradually adjusting or reducing the intensity as the pregnancy progresses. Maintaining average physical activities during the day.
● Yogasanas: Under the guidance of yoga teacher, following asanas can be practiced regularly. Tadasana, Sukhasana, Marjaryasana, Shavasana, Baddha Konasana, Vajrasana. Yoga Nidra for positive thoughts and intentions, external and internal awareness along with positive visualization.
● Pranayama: Chanting OM for 3-15 minutes, Dhiga pranayama to enhance lung capacity and mental clarity, Anulom Vilom for 5-10mins to reduce stress and anxiety.
● Spiritual activities include expressing gratitude, reading sacred texts and ancient scriptures, chanting specific mantras for positivity and calmness.
